LOCAL EVENTS

Held in conjunction with our community partners including Dunbar Association, SUNY EOC, 100 Black Men of Syracuse, Tucker MBC, Gospel Temple COGIC, Folk Art Gallery, Syr City School district, Onondaga County Public Libraries, and Blueprint 15. 

 

All events are themed fun-filled 2 hours with children accompanied by adult 18 or older.  Stress free easy fun exploring!  The events show how easy and enjoyable to share book and arts and crafts with children.  All include new children’s books for each child to take home.

 

African American Read

Celebration of Black History Month through art and literature including guest artist, who share their passion with the audience. Children get to explore making with the artists including ceramic, painting and engage the children in the arts. Guest have included nationally known artist David McDonald.

Grandmas Read

A fun- filled action-packed two hour event for Grandmas, and Children ages 1-8 years old. The event includes  a special lunch for the grandmas and a kids lunch with guest readers, great music, games & prizes! Everyone, adults and children, can take home a new book.

 

Zoo to You

Live animal presentation with Rosamond Gifford Zoo educator.  We see, and learn about a few kid friendly zoo animals. Also get the opportunity to touch if desired.  No pressure just exploring  for kids and grownups. Event includes great animal stories! Fun crafts! 

 

Book Distributions

Though most events are indoors at community locations,  in our short summers,  book giveaways  are held outside in conjunction with summer events such as sports camps, festivals, wherever there are kids and adults, Lit for Life can brings free new books!
